Mariel Sarah Mohns is a graduate of Lawrence University, having completed the 5-year double degree program with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the Conservatory of Music. She studied piano with Michael Kim, now Dean of Music at Brandon University in Canada, as well as brief semester studies with Dmitri Novgorodsky and Emma Tahmizian. While at Lawrence University, Mariel became involved with the Jazz Singers ensemble, studied voice, and participated in musical theatre productions. She also developed a love for accompanying and collaboration.

Mariel developed an early love for music and began her piano studies at the age of 4 in her hometown of Greendale, WI. After learning the basics, she continued her piano studies independently as a self-taught musician. She has also studied clarinet, cello, and voice. Mariel has participated in various band, orchestra, and choral settings, as well as performed in musical theatre throughout the Milwaukee and Appleton communities.

Currently, Mariel lives in Clinton, MS with her husband Matthew and their two dogs, JoJo and McGhee. She teaches piano lessons privately in her home studio in addition to freelance work as an accompanist and performer. She attends graduate school at Mississippi College where she is pursuing a Masters degree in Biology with an aspiration to work in the health field.

Wherever she ends up in the years to come, Mariel will continue to pursue her passion for music and share it with others.
